Pit Master Brian and his wife, Cyndi, have been happily hosting parties since they were married in 2011. Among their favorites was the “garage BBQ”. Brian would string lights throughout his garage and invite family, friends and neighbors over to enjoy some good eats. After watching the movie “Chef”, Brian became interested in smoking meats. He started watching Master Classes from Aaron Franklin and decided to smoke a pork butt and, of course, invite everyone over to try! That was all it took! After some really exciting life changes (a baby girl and a new home) Brian and Cyndi amped up their cookouts, menu and entertaining space. After some catering opportunities and rave reviews, Bearded Baby Que was born. It started out small with a few catering gigs and pop-ups in town. That grew by word of mouth. Then Brian bought a bare bones concession trailer and turned it into a food trailer! Next thing you know, Bearded Baby Que is mobile! After a year of food truck events and more catering, Brian resigned from his 9-5 and stepped out in faith to launch Bearded Baby Que full time! Weddings, rehearsal dinners, backyard BBQs, farm festivals and residencies at local breweries all helped the following grow. “Where is your restaurant?” would be the question at any event and Brian would always reply, “We don’t have one YET!”
Fast forward to summer of 2025 when the family, yet again, stepped out in faith and signed the lease for their new restaurant on Main Street in Sussex Boro.
Brian is the Pit Master and although he’s always behind the line, he pops out as often as possible to thank and chat with guests. Cyndi heads up social media and helps work the front of house. Olivia helps her Daddy stack wood in his wood shed and waits on tables after school. (she earns some serious tips!) And Logan, well, he just smiles and looks cute when he’s “working” at the restaurant!
Located in rural Sussex County, Bearded Baby Que is excited to serve up some Texas style BBQ to New Jersey. The laid back vibe of this family run business works to ensure that every single guest feels like family dining in their home. Nothing brings people together more than good BBQ!

We tried Bearded Baby BBQ in Sussex yesterday, and boy was it good! We got a little bit of everything: smoked wings, onion petals, pulled pork, a smash burger, burnt ends, brisket, mac and cheese, and smoked mushrooms. The brisket was the best I have had! Our server was so friendly and attentive. The owner, Brian, came out to speak with us, and he was such a nice guy. There is no doubt that this place will become successful. Give it a try, you will not be sorry!!!

I have been a patron of Bearded Baby Que for longer than they have had the storefront. We used to visit them regularly at Elias Brewing in Vernon when they were set up there so we could have dinner. Everyone I have interacted with who represents them has been nothing less than kind and professional. The food has been delicious as well. The last time I was at the location, I got the smoked chicken with macaroni and cheese, and my wife got the macaroni and cheese too, which is her favorite. Both were great. I have also had their brisket in the past, and it is hard to find good brisket in New Jersey. They have great brisket.
